The Rapid Support Forces announced that they shot down a Sudanese army MiG plane, on Tuesday morning, in the continuation of the violence for the third week.

The Rapid Support Forces said in a statement that the army launched raids on “a number of residential areas in Khartoum,” and that it “shot down a (MiG) plane.”

The announcement is the first of its kind, since the start of the conflict in Sudan on April 15, between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.

Sky News Arabia might not verify the statement of the Rapid Support Forces, which did not provide pictures of the incident.

And Tuesday, violent battles continued in Sudan despite a truce that is regularly extended without commitment to it, while the international community warns of a “catastrophic” humanitarian situation.

The United Nations fears that “more than 800,000 people” have fled to Sudan’s neighboring countries, such as Egypt, Chad, Ethiopia and Central Africa.

On Tuesday, the United Nations announced that the fighting in Sudan since mid-April has left more than 330,000 displaced people and 100,000 refugees.

The organization warned that its programs designed to meet humanitarian needs in Sudan have so far only secured 14 percent of the funds required for its operations for this year, and therefore it still needs $1.5 billion to meet these needs, which have exacerbated since the outbreak of fighting.
