On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the Provincial Government of Sud-Ubangi launched the measles response campaign at Place TP located next to the Gemena General Reference Hospital.
Indeed, more than 400,000 children aged 6 months to 5 years are targeted for this campaign which will take place in 12 health zones including those of Gemena, Bominenge, Kungu, Bokonzi and Bwamanda.
According to the Chief Medical Officer of the Sud-Ubangi Provincial Health Division, Dr. Bienvenu Mangonza, this response campaign once morest measles will take place with the so-called “fixed” strategy, i.e. at the level of the vaccination.
In her address, the Provincial Minister of Gender, Family and Children of Sud-Ubangi, Marie-Thérèse Tontowa, who represented her colleague of Health, urged parents to have their children vaccinated to prevent them from the said disease.
Dr. Bienvenu Mangonza also reported that 4 other health zones in Sud-Ubangi had already responded to this epidemic thanks in particular to the support of technical and financial partners. These include Bangabola, Budjala, Bogose and Zongo health zones.
