Shortly before 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday, the Zug police reported a fire at the Brüggli in the city of Zug. Upon arrival, emergency services found that the fire object is a floating suction dredger. This was on the Lorzen inlet into Lake Zug.

The volunteer fire brigade of the city of Zug extinguished the fire from the shore and with an oil boat.

Two workers were on the platform when the fire broke out. One of the two “was able to wade through the waist-deep water to the shore and his colleague with another boat bring to safety. Both workers were unharmed,” writes the Zug police in the media release.

Oil barrier was erected

For safety reasons, the fire brigade erected an oil barrier at the confluence of the Lorze and Lake Zug. The forensic service of the Zug police is investigating the cause of the fire, which is not yet known. The focus is on a technical defect, as the media release goes on to say.
