The Director General of the Administrative Career Preparation School (EPCA), Rodrigues Mikolo Banaka, organized a training seminar on the theme: “successfully taking up a position”, dedicated to the Directors and Department Heads of this great school , appointed by the Council of Ministers on December 28, 2023.
The workshop aimed to enable these administrative managers, some of whom are occupying a position of responsibility for the first time, to measure the weight of the task in relation to the performance objectives that the School has set for itself.
During this session, Laurys Delva Zamba, trainer and expert in Human Resources performance management, indicated to the participants that appointment to the position beyond the advantages it provides you, constitutes a heavy responsibility vis-à-vis vis-à-vis the appointing authority and those administered.
Thus, to achieve the goal of the general interest and satisfy users of the public service, the newly appointed administrative manager must: provide prior information regarding the organization, its positioning and the expectations of senior authorities; understand the environment, notably the vision, the actors, the codes, and the documentary and legal review; understand their positioning in this environment (responsibilities, expectations, essential issues, for the promoted person in their new responsibilities, resources and support points); prepare the first meetings with team members individually and collectively; establish the inventory and draft the organization’s plan and implement and monitor the indicators.
Apart from these reflexes, the new administrative managers of the EPCA were invited to have “a sense of organization, a strategic vision of their position and an ability to adapt”, all of this, accompanied by a sense of responsibility to be a force of proposal alongside their Director.
“Immediately, action plans by management will be developed following validation of the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan by the board of directors; in these action plans, the priority areas and objectives associated with action variables and results indicators will be contained,” Mr. Mikolo Banaka informed all of his colleagues in his closing speech of the work.
