FCW shines in their opening match

Right from the beginning, FC Wacker Innsbruck took charge of the game and set the tempo. Silz/Mötz coach Kraft deployed a very defensive strategy, which initially hindered the Wackerians from scoring during the early moments. However, in the 9th minute, Stefan Lorenz nearly broke the deadlock with an impressive scissor-kick. Soon after, Silz/Mötz goalkeeper Rottensteiner denied a header from Adrian Lechl. Mouhamed Sy appeared to have given the traditional Tyrolean club the lead in the 20th minute, resulting in cheers from the crowd of 2,348, but unfortunately, the goal was ruled offside. Ten minutes later, a through ball found Lorenz in the box, where he was pulled back by an opponent wearing his new, smart Adidas jersey. Okan Yilmaz converted the resulting penalty with a shot into the top corner, putting FC Wacker in front (31st minute). Just three minutes later, the ball hit the back of the visitors’ net again. Daniel Francis volleyed in a corner taken by captain Rami Tekir, extending the lead to 2-0 (34th minute). The Wackerians continued to threaten, with Yilmaz (37th) and then Lorenz (40th) both testing goalkeeper Rottensteiner, who made an exceptional save. At the start of stoppage time, Lechl delivered a perfect pass to the penalty area. An Oberland player slightly deflected the ball, which allowed Lorenz to score on his Tivoli debut for a 3-0 lead.

The visitors returned to the pitch with more confidence and created a good chance through Stigger after a lapse in the Wacker defense. However, as the match progressed, the home team regained control. Lechl made two attempts from promising positions (52nd, 57th) but could not find the net. In the 61st minute, FCW goalkeeper Lukas Tauber had to stretch to save a dangerous free-kick from Alak, deflecting it for a corner. Following that, substitutes Lukas Scholl and Bright Owusu became instrumental for the Wackerians. Scholl provided a brilliant pass to Owusu, who finished smoothly to make it 4-0 (64th minute). Moments later, Wacker’s new signing celebrated again as Owusu converted a long pass into the far corner for a score of 5-0 (69th minute). In the closing minutes, substitute Manuel Petutschnig earned a good chance with a header, and Luis Gstrein, who came on in the 71st minute, also had a notable opportunity on his debut but is still waiting for his first goal.
