Second place in tourism sector growth; Saudi Arabia has advanced on the world tourism map

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s position on the world tourism map is rising. Saudi Arabia is the second most developed country in the world in terms of tourism. In the first seven months of this year, India ranked second globally in terms of tourist arrivals. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the country recorded a growth rate of 58 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

The ministry informed this by quoting the World Tourism Barometer report released by the World Tourism Organization last September. The Ministry stated that this is the result of the country’s great achievements in the field of tourism and its leadership in the global arena in this important field. Officials said that Saudi Arabia hosted the World Tourism Day conference held in Riyadh on 27th and 28th of last month, which is the latest event in the field of tourism.

Tourism Minister Ahmad Al Khatib said that behind these achievements are the follow-up measures, attention and unprecedented support of the tourism system by the rulers King Salman and Crown Prince Amir Mohammed bin Salman. These achievements enhance the country’s position as a major global tourism destination. He added that the significant increase in the number of tourist arrivals reflects confidence in the country’s attractive tourism options and the extent of their diversity.
