While the party is over and tidying up begins in the entertainment areas, the organizers of the 44th edition of the 24 Hours of Cycling confirmed, around 5:30 a.m., that the night generally went well. Since Tuesday at 1:00 p.m., while thousands of students gathered in the university town to party, around a hundred people passed through the advanced medical post established on the site. The police made eight administrative arrests, and no judicial arrests.

A large police force, including nearly 320 agents, was planned to secure the streets of Louvain-la-Neuve, while 114 security agents were assigned to monitor the concert areas. The organizers had placed emphasis on security and the eight arrests were made for drunkenness or disturbing the peace.

According to the first figures communicated by the organizers, there were no legal arrests during the night. On the medical side, since the start of the event on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m., 103 admissions have been recorded at the advanced medical station installed on the site, including 89 for minor injuries.

Four people had to be transferred to the Saint-Pierre clinic in Ottignies. Approximately 60% of admissions were caused by alcohol poisoning in these patients, and 30% were due to trauma. Rest areas set up in two auditoriums for students to rest”tired” following partying welcomed 75 people in total. The 44th edition of the 24h bike race will officially end on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., following a last big concert planned on the Grand-Place in Louvain-la-Neuve at noon.
