Threads hit a new adoption record yet this Thursday. That’s because Meta’s new social network Reached 30 million users in just 18 hours of operation.

As expected, this number has grown rapidly thanks to the integration with Instagram, which provides a quick migration to the new platform.

Dubbed the “Twitter Killer”, Threads was also the most downloaded app on the Play Store and App Store in the UK and US. Commenting on the matter, analyst Jasmine Enberg pointed out that the new social network has attracted those unhappy with Musk’s management on Twitter.

The cage match began, and Zuckerberg landed a huge blow. In many ways, it’s exactly what you’d expect from Meta: stellar execution and an easy-to-navigate user interface.

It is worth remembering that Twitter has threatened to sue Meta for using its former employees to “copy” the social network and give rise to Threads.

Threads attracts 10 million users in just 7 hours

Meta’s new social network, Threads, experienced skyrocketing popularity upon launch. The company announced that 10 million signups took place in just 7 hours after its availability.

Something that helped Threads get the good numbers was its integration with Instagram. After downloading the application, Instagram users can log into Threads using the same username, with the symbol of the new social network being stamped on their Instagram profile.

Unlike Mastodon, Instagram has encouraged many brands and celebrities to create a Threads profile. Stars like Shakira and companies like Netflix already have a profile on the social network. With interaction, this helped resolve the issue of the app being “empty” on launch.

Meta’s strategy resulted in a successful launch, but only time will tell if Threads can maintain its popularity for the coming weeks and months. In the first few hours, users asked for an option to view the timeline chronologically and for Threads to be accessible from desktop platforms.

Meta also promised that Threads will be part of “Fediverso”, which is not yet available. The new social network must be compatible with the same ActivityPub protocol used by Mastodon, allowing people to follow each other on different networks and migrate their data without obstacles.
