The owner of a suburban home in Miami, Florida, had an eventful evening Friday when an SUV ended up in his in-ground pool.
William Marts, who lives in North Lauderdale, had to play the hero to save the two occupants of the vehicle, before being hospitalized himself due to increased blood pressure.
“We heard a huge noise. I thought lightning had struck behind the house so I went to look and it looked like there was a tidal wave in my pool,” Mr. Marts said.
It was then that he noticed that a Ford Explorer had sunk into the water of his swimming pool.

At first stunned, the man then jumped into the water to help the people in the SUV.
He first went to see the driver.
“He was breathing and drooling, but at least he was able to breathe. Then I noticed there was a little girl in the back of the vehicle,” said William Marts.
It was at this moment that a policewoman, who was on her way home after her day of work, saw the scene and came to help the owner of the swimming pool to smash the window of the vehicle and remove the driver as well as the child, both trapped in the SUV.
The two occupants of the Ford Explorer are said to be out of danger.
A few hours later, divers hooked the vehicle to a crane and pulled it out of the water.

Meanwhile, William Marts had to go to hospital after feeling unwell due to a sudden rise in his blood pressure. Fortunately, he was discharged quickly and is now doing much better.
Mr. Marts, however, wants the City to do more to secure the street corner where his residence is located.
He claims that many incidents occur on his land.
“There is an accident every weekend. They broke down my fence seven times,” claims William Marts.
He calls for the installation of a cement barrier to prevent vehicles from skidding near his house.
