Major Duy is originally from Vu Thu, Thai Binh and resides in Yen Bai city, Yen Bai province. He died when directly carrying out a combat training mission, serving defense and security on a Su-22M4 aircraft, noon on January 31.
This aircraft bears the number 5873 belonging to Regiment 921, Division 371, Air Defense – Air Force.
Previously, on February 1, Acting State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan signed a decision posthumously conferring the Third-class Fatherland Defense Order to Major Tran Ngoc Duy for his unexpected outstanding achievements and sacrifices in the implementation of the National Guard. combat flight training, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Previously, the Ministry of National Defense had decided to promote the military rank ahead of time from the rank of captain to major. The Central Youth Union also decided to posthumously award the “Brave Youth” badge to pilot Tran Ngoc Duy.
At noon on January 31, the Su-22M4 aircraft, number 5873 of the 921st Airborne Regiment, Division 371, Air Defense – Air Force, piloted by Major – Level 3 pilot Tran Ngoc Duy took off the flight. first, training flight number 206.
While landing, the plane crashed. Duy was ordered to parachute but tried to save the plane. However, then the plane crashed, causing pilot Tran Ngoc Duy to die.
