FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Uruguayan Luis Suarez scored 30 seconds into the game and scored again six minutes later, which was enough to give Inter Miami the first U.S. The team that clinched a ticket to the playoffs in Major League Soccer (MLS) defeated Cincinnati 2-0 on Saturday.

The Herons avenged Cincinnati’s 6-1 win over Ohio earlier this season. They sit atop the Eastern Conference with 56 points, eight more than Cincinnati.

Inter Miami is the leader of the entire league and could win the Supporters’ Shield trophy.

Rookie defender Marcelo Weigante of Argentina registered his first career assist. Fellow defender Yaniick Bright scored the second goal just 30 seconds into the game to give Inter Miami the lead.

Suarez scored his 15th goal in his 15th and 19th games for the club. This is his first season in MLS.

The former Barcelona and Liverpool star made it 2-0 with a third assist from Paraguay midfielder Matias Rojas.

Inter Miami was one man short from the 42nd minute onwards after Argentina-Chile defender Tomas Aviles received a second yellow card. The numerical disadvantage does not matter.

Messi was also not absent, with the Argentine star playing Inter’s first game since suffering an ankle injury in last month’s Copa America final, which Albiceleste beat Colombia.

Mexican-American Brian Gutierrez converted a penalty kick in stoppage time to help the Chicago Fire draw 2-2 with New York City FC from two goals down.

In other games, Seattle Sounders defeated Minnesota United 3-2; Sporting Kansas City defeated Orlando City 3-0; New England Revolution defeated Montreal 5-0; Dallas defeated Washington United 4-3, Charlotte 1 – 1 draw New York Red Bulls.
