Styrian died in alpine accident in Salzburg’s Lungau

The 50-year-old was reported missing on Sunday evening, and the Tamsweg (Lungau) mountain rescue team started a search operation at Kasereck (2,740 meters) that night, involving twelve mountain rescuers, a rescue helicopter team and a police helicopter. The helpers found the dead Styrian on Monday, the mountain rescue team announced on Monday.

Due to rain, fog and darkness, the search had to be called off during the night and was resumed on Monday at around 4:30 a.m. The missing man was found dead in the morning. “He fell to his death in extremely steep and rocky terrain,” said Roland Bock, the head of operations for the Tamsweg mountain rescue service. The body was flown into the valley by helicopter.
