Stuttgart signs the declaration #positivework of the German AIDS Aid

Despite education campaigns regarding transmission routes and the fact that HIV-positive people can now lead an almost normal life thanks to highly developed medicines, they still experience exclusion and stigmatization in everyday life and at work. Therefore, HIV-positive people often hide their status. For many people, the infection means a deep cut in their lives, often associated with feelings of shame and fear. In particular, the fear of coming out, an unauthorized disclosure of the infection by another person, plays a major role. The familiar environment, such as the colleagues at work, can be an important support. However, comprehensive information, further training and a clear attitude towards appreciative and respectful interaction are important for this.

The Bündnis 90/DIE GRÜNEN parliamentary group in the municipal council submitted the application to sign the declaration “#working positively: Against discrimination once morest people with HIV in the workplace”. On May 11, the members of the Advisory Board for Equal Opportunities voted unanimously in favor of signing it. Klinikum Stuttgart signed the declaration last year.
