Stuttgart makes the game first, but Gladbach scores the goals!
After a wonderful one-two with Neuhaus, Plea gets the ball centrally in front of the goal and immediately volleys it – the 1-0 (14th) and the Frenchman’s 5th goal of the season. Müller is still there, but cannot prevent the impact.
35 minutes: Pléa plays a great cross pass to the back post, where Thuram tackles the ball and pushes the ball over the line to make it 2-0.
Only three minutes following the supposed knockout, Stuttgart is back. Bensebaini clears right at Endo’s feet – and when the captain takes a shot directly, Elvedi deflects unsustainably for Sommer – the 1: 2 (38th).
After the break, Stuttgart comes out of the dressing room with a lot of steam and is rewarded. Tomas puts the ball low in the middle where Ginter clears straight into Kalajdzic’s foot. The Austrian’s shot is deflected. Führich is completely blank at the second post and can head the ball over the line to make it 2:2 (51 st ).
But that’s not all. VfB puts pressure on, keeps playing forward. First, Tomas (66th) misses the goal free-standing. But salvation came in the 83rd minute: Sosa played into the backcourt to Kalajdzic, who stayed cool and made it 3-2 – the decision.
