NAfter the speculation regarding an interest of FC Schalke 04 to trainer Christian Ilzer from Sturm Graz, the Austrian club has categorically ruled out the departure of its head coach. “No one has contacted us – not even from Schalke. And we also have to make it clear that we are definitely not thinking regarding giving up Christian Ilzer,” said sports director Andreas Schicker of the “Kleine Zeitung”. Schicker also made a similar statement at Sport1.
As the “Bild” newspaper previously reported, Ilzer is said to be a hot candidate to succeed Frank Kramer at the Bundesliga club. FC Schalke 04 is still looking for a coach. For the time being, assistant coach Matthias Kreutzer should look following the Bundesliga penultimate and also sit on the bench at Hertha BSC (5.30 p.m. / DAZN) on Sunday. Kramer was on leave on Wednesday following the disappointing start to the season.
