Initially, Sturm had an extremely difficult time against the Tyroleans. The visiting team’s five-man chain proved insurmountable for a long time, but the Styrian themselves also exposed defensive weaknesses. Butler passed the ball to Diarra in the penalty area, and Diarra fired a powerful direct shot from under the crossbar to make it 1-0. Four minutes later, after receiving a perfect pass from Valentino Muller, Butler rushed towards the Storm goal alone and past goalkeeper Sherpen to add to Wattens’ score.

Sturm began a comeback just before half-time when Kiteshvili headed Yusuf Gazibegovich’s cross into the far corner. The expected attack in the second half didn’t materialize – Sturm was still out of ideas and Amadi Kamara could only find the side netting for the time being.

It wasn’t until Gorgic joined that the situation changed. Just three minutes into the game, the 18-year-old self-made player equalized with an assist from Kiteshvili and finally made it 3-2 after Mika Byreth’s Stengl pass. Graz’s fourth goal was even a joint production of two “clowns”: Stefan Hierland assisted and Chukwuanyi finished, thus sealing WSG’s third league defeat.
