Dynamo Kyiv, who conquered Sturm Graz, lost the first leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off once morest Benfica Lisbon 0-2 (0-2) on Wednesday. The Ukrainians played their home game because of the war in their country, as they did once morest Sturm in Lodz, Poland.
Gilberto Moraes (9th) and Goncalo Ramos (37th) scored the goals for the team of ex-Salzburg coach Roger Schmidt. The second leg will take place in Lisbon on Tuesday (9:00 p.m.). Austria’s runner-up Sturm was defeated by Kyiv in the third qualifying round with a total score of 1:3.
Red Star Belgrade with ÖFB legionnaire Aleksandar Dragovic also lost the play-off first leg at Maccabi Haifa 2-3. The goals for the home side came from Frantzdy Pierrot (18′, 51′) and Tjaronn Chery (61′). Aleksandar Pesic (27′) and Guelor Kanga (39′) scored for Red Star, Dragovic played through in central defence.
