Hands-free across the street or daringly down a stairwell: the stunts of the St. Gallen bike couriers “Die Fliege” have been viewed by millions of people on Instagram.
What is meant to be a funny advertisement for their courier service might now have serious consequences.
As FM1 Today reported, the St. Gallen city police had little pleasure in the videos. In the stunts, “clear violations of the rules” would occur, the city police said to the portal. For example, driving on the pavement is prohibited, as is hands-free cycling.
“Always responsible on the road”
The decisive factor is whether people were in danger during the video shoot. Then there is a risk of a fine or even a display. The police are targeting a video in which a courier drives down a flight of stairs. The police will now contact the company and examine the next steps.
The bike courier is insightful on FM1 Today. However, one is “always responsible on the move”, according to the company’s co-managing director. In total, “The Fly” has already shot more than 70 videos, and traffic rules were broken in two cases. However, the company emphasizes that people would never have been in danger.
The drivers are trained and have to obey the traffic rules. If you get a fine, you have to pay for it yourself. In addition, the videos are meant “more funny than seriously”, and the company hardly receives any additional orders because of the clips. (zis)
