Study: Swallowing mouthwash can cause blindness

Mouthwash is an essential measure to maintain oral health, but its misuse and indulgence in swallowing it have serious consequences for the safety of the eyes, according to a recent case study that reported that swallowing the substance caused blindness.

newspaper reported Daily Express A study reported in the Survey of Opthomology dealt with the case of a man whose eyesight decreased for no apparent reason.

The study reported that a case of vision decline occurred in the man’s eyes, despite the fact that he underwent cataract surgery months ago, before his vision was damaged.

The study team noticed that the man continued to swallow the lotion, and by stopping the wrong habit, his eyesight improved.

The team said that the case would have continued with atrophy of the optic nerve until blindness, if the man did not stop swallowing the lotion.

It is reported that drinking alcoholic beverages is known to cause atrophy of the optic nerve as a result of intoxication.
