Scientists from the USA presented a new work.
Psychologists from Duke University in the United States have come to the conclusion that people prone to antisocial behavior age faster. The results of the scientists’ study were presented in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
The authors analyzed data from a large longitudinal study in New Zealand, which included 1037 participants born between April 1972 and March 1973.
All participants underwent medical and psychological examinations several times: for the first time at age 3, and the last time at the age of 45 years. The analysis showed that participants with a history of antisocial behavior significantly accelerated the rate of biological aging.
When these people reached the age of 45, they were on average 4.3 biological years older compared to those who had lower levels of antisocial behavior.
Antisocial behavior refers to actions that consistently violate social norms, disregard the rights of others, and are often associated with a lack of empathy or remorse. These are, for example, deceit, aggression, theft, violence, lies and other types of manipulative or exploitative behavior.

Life in rose-colored glasses In old age, both the world and the people around may seem more pleasant than they really are. The fact is that with age, people read discontent and anger on the faces of others worse, while the ability to distinguish positive emotions remains unchanged.
Good sex. Sex helps to feel happy in old age, scientists from the UK came to this conclusion. Moreover, women mainly enjoy kisses and caresses, and men – the frequency of sexual intercourse.
Dementia can be prevented. Senile decline in intelligence, or dementia, is increasingly perceived as a natural and inevitable companion of aging. But it’s not. It has been proven that in addition to genetic predisposition, the risk of developing dementia is increased by malnutrition, lack of physical activity, excess weight, smoking, alcohol abuse, high blood pressure, diabetes and depression. You can influence a lot of this. In addition, a high intellectual load reduces the risk of dementia by 34%, and Alzheimer’s disease by 46%.
Beautiful skin. To keep the skin fresh and supple following 40 years, outdoor exercises will help, which you need to devote at least three hours a week. This is a good way to improve blood circulation and saturate tissues with oxygen. Experts also advise drinking 1-1.5 liters of water per day: in adulthood, due to a lack of moisture, the skin quickly becomes dry.
Recognize depression early. According to statistics, depression occurs in 13% of older people. Insomnia, headaches, loss of appetite – such non-obvious symptoms can be signs of depression, which sometimes makes a person completely indifferent to life. If you notice any of the above, contact a psychotherapist.
A health check is a must. After the age of 50, the risk of developing a number of cancers increases significantly. Get regular diagnostic tests.
Proper nutrition for seniors. First, don’t overeat. Secondly, eat a variety of foods (meat, fish, legumes, fruits and vegetables of different colors, nuts and seeds), paying special attention to fatty fish. Thirdly, eat processed meat products as little as possible – ham, sausages, sausages. They retain fluid in the body, increase blood pressure, and increase the risk of colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancer.
Dancing and red wine. It would seem that both things are incompatible with old age. However, scientists have come to the conclusion that dancing helps keep the brain active. Not to mention, it’s a great way to stay in shape. The result will fix red wine: the substances it contains protect the brain from premature aging. One glass of red dry a day can help prevent neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
