According to a study carried out by National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and published in December 2023 in Industry Portalrevealed data on Brazil’s performance in world exports of goods from the manufacturing industry, registering growth in 2022. The publication states that the country’s share in exports should rise from 0.84%, in 2021, to 1.05% in 2022, thus interrupting the downward trend that began in 2012 and reached the highest level since then.
The report also addresses data relating to the global classification. The performance in 2022, according to data from the publication, will take Brazil to 26th position in the world ranking of exporters of goods in the manufacturing industry. This increase of two positions compared to the previous year places Brazil ahead of Indonesia and Sweden, as can be seen in the study.
Still on the report, it is possible to check data on the total value of world exports and which, according to the CNI estimate, indicates a slight reduction of 0.44% in 2022, contrary to the increase of 24.74% observed in 2021. The study points out specific data for Brazil, it is noted that export growth in 2021 exceeded the global average, registering a variation of 26.53%. For 2022, as the report points out, the estimated growth in Brazilian exports is 23.44%, marking a difference in relation to the global result of -0.44%.
José Antônio Valente, director of the construction equipment rental franchises Franquias Trans Obra stated that the research recently conducted by the CNI and which was published on the Industry Portal, offers a comprehensive view of Brazil’s upward trajectory in global exports of goods from the manufacturing industry in the year 2022. The data presented reveals an optimistic outlook , indicating a notable expansion compared to previous years. “The data revealed by the CNI study points to a positive turnaround in the performance of Brazilian exports, highlighting the country’s resilience and competitiveness in the global manufacturing industry scenario.”

The study also points out that a marginal increase in the shares of Brazil (+0.21 pp), India (+0.27 pp), Mexico (+0.23 pp), Argentina (+0.08 pp) and Italy (+0.04 pp) in the same comparison. On the other hand, a reduction in shares is expected for the other countries, except South Korea, which should remain constant.
The document also points out that China will continue to lead the ranking of the world’s largest exporters of manufacturing goods, while Germany and Japan are expected to record slight drops in their respective shares, of 0.28 pp and 0.18 pp, in the same period.
