The research revealed by the “Free Press” records the average salaries of all employees in all branches and profession categories in the public and private sectors and the general conclusion that emerges is that, despite the increases, private sector employees are paid less by civil servants. The lot, however, in the private sector is saved by Gifts, reducing the wage gap with the State.

The data of the research concern the net monthly earnings of 2022 and according to them the average net salary in the State is at 1,149.8 euros compared to 958.5 euros in the private sector.
Even among managers, the State is ahead of the private sector, as the average remuneration of its managers amounts to 1,883.40 euros, while that of the private sector is 1,834 euros.

According to the EL.STAT table, the average salaries in the public and private sector for a number of professions are as follows:
* Technicians and practitioners of related professions receive an average salary of 1,205 euros if they are employed in the public sector and 1,079 euros if they are in the private sector.
*Office workers receive 1,080 euros in the public sector and 912.90 euros in the private sector.
*Those employed in the provision of services receive 1,022.80 euros if they are in a public organization and 816.40 euros in the private sector.
* Skilled craftsmen and practitioners of related professions receive 1,085.80 euros if they are in a public organization and 962.20 euros in the private sector.
Even in minimum wages, the public sector overtakes the private sector, with first-time public sector appointees receiving a basic salary (2022 average) of €773.50 compared to €765.10 for unskilled workers in the private sector.
