Students find themselves in trouble after obtaining an unrecognized baccalaureate

A group of students found themselves in trouble following obtaining an unrecognized baccalaureate certificate from an American school in the city of Fez.

According to informed sources, the school in question, which is located on Imouzzer Road in Fez, is facing complaints from several families who said that their children studying there were harmed following they obtained a baccalaureate degree that is not recognized in Morocco, because teaching there, in part, is based on the American educational system.

The same sources explained that the school in question was teaching according to the Moroccan system with a license from the Regional Academy of Education and Training for the Fez-Meknes region, but at the same time it was teaching some students according to the “American educational system” without obtaining a license.

The same sources confirmed that the students concerned were studying within the institution but using the distance learning model, noting that their parents were aware that this type was not nationally recognized, which is proven by the commitment signed by them.

While some students found their purpose in this pattern, considering that the certificate they obtained allowed them to register in the Turkish and American higher education systems, others found themselves in an unenviable position, especially those who did not have an opinion regarding continuing their studies abroad, because the certificate they obtained was not equivalent to the Moroccan baccalaureate certificate.

In response to inquiries regarding complaints directed to it, the school defended itself, saying that the families concerned by these complaints had signed commitments stating that this approved model was their choice.

However, the Regional Academy of Education and Training considered that the school was involved in violating the system in force in Morocco, and chose this American distance education system, but without a license, which is the same problem that it fell into and led to its closure previously.

Accordingly, the Academy of Education and Training in the Fez-Meknes region decided to issue a closure decision, the second of its kind, once morest the institution concerned in the city of Fez, due to its violation of the terms of reference that it had agreed to before reopening it years ago.
