The parliamentary representative of the Progress and Socialism Group in the House of Representatives, Hassan Oumribet, called for facilitating the registration process for students who passed the entrance exams for the National Schools of Applied Sciences and the National Schools of Commerce and Management in institutions close to their places of residence.

In a written question addressed to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdel Latif Miraoui, the MP revealed that many students who have obtained a baccalaureate degree and excelled in the entrance exams to the National Schools of Applied Sciences and the National Schools of Commerce and Management, complain about their poor distribution among the relevant institutions, stressing that even exchange requests between students who wish to do so are met with rejection.

Omreibet added that the students concerned found themselves facing a number of difficulties after the announcement of the results of these competitions, especially those coming from remote and distant areas, noting that the relevant institutions give those concerned the possibility of arranging their choices, but they do not take them into account during the distribution process.

MP Oumrybat stressed that imposing registration in an institution that is hundreds or thousands of kilometers away from the place of residence imposes additional expenses on those concerned in terms of transportation and housing, which prevents a large number of outstanding students from poor families and remote areas from joining these institutions on the one hand, or from continuing their education in difficult circumstances.

The same speaker considered that this situation questions the credibility of the process of registering and distributing the students concerned, and also questions the principle of socio-spatial justice in access to higher education and continuing training therein on an equal footing, stressing the need to take into account the student’s interest and make it above any other consideration.

Accordingly, the member of the Progress and Socialism Group wondered about the measures that the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation will take to register students who have successfully entered the National Schools of Applied Sciences and the National Schools of Commerce and Management in institutions close to their places of residence, and to overcome the difficulties they face in this regard.
