Student precariousness: requests for help explode following successive crises

Lhe student precariousness, the mainstay of student movements, is experiencing renewed attention in the aftermath of successive crises. Covid pandemic, war in Ukraine, runaway inflation. Between September 2018 and September 2022, the number of students receiving a social integration income increased by 20%, rising in absolute numbers from 21,254 to 25,500 students. They were only 8,503 to obtain this financial aid fifteen years ago. “The increase in the cost of living and studies is leading more and more students to seek help from the CPAS, because the family support from which they benefited is weakening”, according to the City’s CPAS. from Brussels.
