When arriving in a new territory for their studies, young people often lose continuity of care with their treating physician and the health system in general. The stakeholders in higher education in Grand Cahors and the Health Examination Center of the CPAM du Lot are officially committed to providing them with an answer: a complete preventive health examination. It is provided by a multidisciplinary medical team and is structured around auscultation, screening action and preventive reminders of risky behaviors. If specific care is necessary, the student will be referred, while respecting confidentiality, to specialized health professionals.
These meetings also aim to update the rights of beneficiaries and their
present the health system of their new host territory. Although this health prevention examination is optional, some players go further in this approach by including it on the agenda for new promotions. More than 250 young students from the Institute for Training in Health Professions, the Lycée des Territoires de Cahors – Le Montat, the Master Gastronomy or even medical interns will be affected by this health examination. This collective approach might be extended to all higher education establishments in the region which wish to join in this health action.
This signature constitutes a territorial response for better medical care for students. The involvement of these actors supported by the Regional Health Agency demonstrates their desire to be primarily part of a preventive approach in order to work for the quality of life of students.
The Health Examination Center of the CPAM du Lot will be able to honor more than 300 annual consultations for these students.
