Student game festival “Play Sorbonne Festival”, September 16, 2023

The Play Sorbonne Festival student game festival will be back for its 6th edition on Saturday September 16, 2023. Organized by passionate volunteers, the event celebrates gaming culture in all its forms, from video games to board games. The event will be held at the Pierre and Marie Curie campus of Sorbonne University.

Play Sorbonne Festival brings together players, developers, publishers and associations. The festival honors all these profiles to discover the complexity of the process of creating a game from start to finish and the daily reality of those who bring it to life. Among the guests of the 2023 edition are FibreTigre (author), Ken Bogard (host), Clément Viktorovich (political scientist), Maïa Mazaurette (author) and Lydia (content creator), gathered around a Role Playing program Game of Roles special Sorbonne. The festival will include fifteen board game authors as well as fifteen video game developers including Doc Geraud (Buissons, Larcin Lazer).

As part of a cycle of conferences, Play Sorbonne University gives the floor to researchers dealing with video games through questions of history, economics, gender or game design.

Festival-goers will also be able to meet professionals in the sector, discover their games or take part in a Super Smash Bros. tournament. Ultimate to 256 players. Finally, Play Sorbonne University will offer a video game exhibition at the crossroads of the arts and sociology, through the work of Roger Caillois (Les Jeux et les Hommes, 1958).
