Struck by the results of the CEB, parents rush to the vacation notebooks: some advice to avoid overloading your child (video)

Holiday notebooks are popular in Belgium! Sales of these notebooks have even increased significantly this year, with a 30 to 40% increase in sales observed in various places.

To explain this phenomenon, we must look at the recent CEB. 85% success, this is the result for this year, the lowest for ten years. Enough to convince parents to work with their children during the holidays. “There is the desire to make up for a deficit. A desire to make up for a delay in terms of the CEB and the material seen. In bookstores, we can give advice and see what is happening”confirms Maxime Dauby, who works in bookstores.

If the use of these holiday notebooks is considered positive, it is however necessary to respect the principle of the holidays, which the children need. “It must remain something fun”confirms Damien Larminiaux, child psychiatrist at the Citadel in Liège. “It is up to the parents to find the tone and the way so that he can enter this world of learning through play and exercise”he then clarifies.

It is therefore advisable to adapt the sessions according to the planned activities and not to favor the holiday notebook over fun and relaxation during this period.
