Footage of the rough landing shows the Air Portugal Airbus initially flying into the sky after a flight from Porto Santo. But even though everything seems to be going smoothly, the aircraft soon begins to rock from side to side as it tries to maintain its course before landing.

As the Daily Mail notes, the strong gusts appear to be getting stronger as the aircraft banked to the right. In an instant it begins to sway and head towards the airport ground before rising into the air again.

The visual then shows the runway of Madeira airport coming into view. The nose of the jet is down for landing, its front wheels touch the ground and it skids down the runway while a cloud of smoke appears around it.

The plane begins to bounce on the runway as it slowly heads towards what looks like the edge of a cliff.

Finally, the jet, which fortunately had no passengers at the time, appears to be under control after the crash landing and, applies the brakes and comes to a stop.
