Strong tremor shook Colombia and Venezuela; the epicenter was in Táchira

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale occurred this Friday followingnoon on the border between Colombia and Venezuela. The center of the telluric movement was the municipality of La Fría, in the Táchira state of Venezuela.

According to the geological report, the earthquake had a depth of less than 30 kilometers. The area where the movement occurred is near Cúcuta, the capital of Norte de Santander. ANDThe event was registered at 3:10 pm

The movement was also felt in the Mérida state of Venezuela. According to information published by the University of Santander, the earthquake was classified as mild and apparently did not cause material damage either in the Colombian area or in the neighboring country.
