“Craftsmanship and manufacturing record strong performance and resilience to external shocks”. This was underlined by the Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekasaccording to today’s announcement, during yesterday’s meeting he had, in Thessaloniki, with the president, the administrative committee of the Industrial Chamber (BETH) as well as with professional bodies of the city.
The minister noted that in his new regimes Development Law new objective scoring criteria will be included, which will concern – among others – collaboration with research institutes/universities for research and innovation actions, possession of industrial property patents, high extroversion index (value of exports), published annual sustainability reports (ESG ), the establishment of enterprises in industrial parks (organized receptors), mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Skrekas discussed with the BETH leadership regarding the current critical issues facing the industry craft and manufacturing in Thessaloniki and emphasized that domestic manufacturing, both in Thessaloniki and in the rest of the territory, records strong performances in several fields and significant resilience to external crises.
As he characteristically said, “it is one of the few branches of the Greek economy that has recovered to the pre-financial crisis figures, in terms of Gross Added Value, employment and investments” and added that “the Government’s goal is to improve productivity and create products and services of higher added value”.
