The aim of such initiatives is to provide a holistic view of the role of primary care, the backbone of the health system. Primary care professionals work at the first level of care, ensuring that citizens who need it are quickly taken care of and socially committing to the efficient use of health resources, while avoiding discrimination in the access to health services. All this, in coordination with other specialized care professionals.

Thus, Vinalopó Salud and the Ministry of Health of Torrevieja have made a strong commitment to increase resources for primary care by decongesting hospital emergencies in each of their hospitals. This is clear from the latest data provided by the two health services.

65% of emergencies in Torrevieja are treated in health centers, which allows hospital emergency services to take care of patients who really need their services, avoiding traffic jams and delays in waiting times .

From

for their part, only 7% of patients who visit the emergency department are admitted to Vinalopó Hospital, a figure that shows that many patients who visit the health center have their health problem solved by the corresponding doctor.
