Stromae gave a very special interview to TF1’s 8 p.m. newscast on Sunday evening. Guest of Anne-Claire Coudray, the maestro unveiled a new title from his album “Multitude” on the set. While the journalist asked him one last question at the end of the interview, Stromae responded with a song, thus singing “Hell”, this new creation which speaks of suicidal thoughts and loneliness. A completely unexpected performance for viewers, following six long years of absence from the Belgian star.
On Twitter, “JT de TF1” and “Stromae” quickly became trends during the evening, Internet users being amazed by Stromae’s publicity stunt. “Master class”, “Magistral”, “Genius”, “Magnificent”, “The brilliant artist who does not cheat”, we read among others on the social network. Many viewers also underline the “unexpected” and “moving” side of the moment offered by our compatriot, “unheard of” in a television news, according to some. “Ladies and gentlemen, the crazy talent of Stromae is indeed back…”, comments one Internet user, while others admit to having been moved to tears by the performance of the maestro.
The Parisian in particular, relayed by many on Twitter, also praises Stromae: “Always also a maestro of the staging! What sense and what science of surprise and emotion that we did not see coming”. “While the interview purred a little, everything suddenly shifted towards a kind of magic as in each of its appearances”, writes the French daily, not hesitating to speak of “a moment of pure musical comedy, almost cinema “.
