According to a new Danish study, a certain profile of people is particularly exposed to the risk of stroke or heart attack before the age of 60. We tell you more

If you suffer from migraines…

Danish researchers have observed that migraine sufferers had more risk to suffer an ischemic stroke or heart attack before the age of 60. Their study is published in the journal Plus One.

Migraine women most at risk

The Danish researchers cross-referenced health data from the Danish population aged 18 to 60 and people who have suffered a heart attack, and AVC ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke (rupture of a cerebral artery). According to their study, these are women with migraine who are most at risk of stroke or heart attack. A “slightly higher” risk than men with migraine or the rest of the population.

Better monitor women’s health

For researchers, better understanding the profile of the most exposed people makes it possible to facilitate preventive therapies. In addition to migraine, other risk factors increase the risk of stroke such as high blood pressure, smoking, cholesterol or diabetes. We recommend people who suffer from migraineand to get closer to their doctor, especially if they are affected by one of these risk factors.
