Some of the staff at the bpost sorting center in Brucargo went on strike on Wednesday followingnoon. Among the workers’ grievances: the remuneration of new CEO Chris Peeters.
The strike action at the Brucargo international shipment sorting center – the Brussels Airport freight service – which began on Wednesday ended on Thursday followingnoon at 2 p.m., we learned from a spokesperson for bpost and the Christian union ACV Transcom.
Selon Hilde Segers, from ACV Transcom, management made concessions Thursday and promised rapid improvements. A consultation is also planned for Friday between unions and management.
The reasons for the spontaneous strike given by staff are to be found in “communication problems, grievances regarding technical equipment and the salary of new CEO Chris Peeters”.

bpost spokesperson.
The action only had few consequences for Belgian customers, according to bpost, but it still caused delays in international shipments. “We are doing everything we can to resolve this delay,” assures the spokesperson for the postal and logistics company.
A lack of equipment
“There have been problems for some time,” PTB MP Maria Vindevoghel explained in Het Laatste Nieuws regarding this strike. “There was recently a serious accident on site due to a defective machine, but today the machine is still there. Apparently, other equipment is not in order and this has been repeatedly reported in vain.”
