Strike at SNCB: trains canceled this Wednesday

LThe train attendants at the Brussels-Midi depot began an “emotional strike” on Wednesday morning, after two new attacks on Tuesday evening, in Antwerp and Braine-le-Comte, said Pierre Lejeune, of the CGSP-Cheminots. “It’s a spontaneous stoppage, the tension is terrible”, explains the union delegate as attacks on SNCB (and transport in general) workers have multiplied lately.

A request for conciliation was submitted by CGSP-Cheminots and CSC-Transcom. The unions hope to discuss with management in the coming hours. In the meantime, the dozen or so train attendants from the depot’s morning shift are out of work, which will inevitably lead to the cancellation of some trains.
