Strike at Ryanair: illegal practices denounced by staff

Social peace seems further away than ever at Ryanair as hundreds of flights have been canceled in recent weeks. Strike notice is still running and the company is struggling to recruit new staff.

To cope with this shortage, the airline sends part of its Belgian cabin crew to work in airports abroad. These secondments take place under precarious conditions, with fairly short notice and without real salary compensation. From one day to the next, a steward or a hostess can thus be sent to the other end of Europe.

If this practice was previously exceptional, it has become common at Ryanair. The cabin crew today denounces these practices and says they are exhausted by this situation: “We are tired. We are afraid of the reaction of the company if we refuse to go there“says Luis Carvalho, purser at Ryanair.
