Farming is a stressful profession, characterized by many stressors at work (Truchot and Andela, 2018; Kallioniemi et al., 2018). Long working hours, isolation, financial insecurity, climatic hazards, market uncertainty translate for the farmer into high work demands. When these become insurmountable, they lead to burnout and an increased risk of suicidal ideation and behavior (Schaufeli and Bakker, 2004; Milner et al., 2018). However, the farming profession is particularly affected by this psychological distress (Kallioniemi et al.2016 ; Jones-Bitton et al., 2019; Deffontaines, 2014) and by an increasing number of suicides (Fraser et al.2005 ; Reed et Claunch, 2020).
