Strépy-Bracquegnies drama: Frédéric, one of the victims, saved the life of a 12-year-old child before dying

Heroic act of Frédéric, a ‘Gille’ who died in the accident at Strépy-Bracquegnies. He was run over by the driver while pushing away a 12-year-old child who was in the path of the vehicle.

Sunday, drama day. When Nicolas learns of his brother’s death, everything falls apart. He didn’t know that Frédéric – his brother and also one of the victims – had saved the life of a 12-year-old boy. A heroic gesture before dying. It was the parents of Timéo, the 12-year-old child, who contacted Frédéric’s relatives. Their son wanted to tell them what happened that day. Nicholas says:

“What was described to us is that my brother positioned himself in front of the car to prevent this little boy from getting carried away. It is something that only half surprises us. It is clearly my brother. I recognize this proof of courage, his way of reacting. He might not bear to see this little boy being carried away. I am both very sad, but very proud of this man who was. “

He offers a little boy an incredible chance

If the heroic act does not erase the pain, Nicolas confides that it helps to hold on: “It comforts us to know that he didn’t leave for nothing. He offers a little boy an incredible chance.“For Fréderic d’Andrea’s family, it is important to be present for the young boy: “Somewhere, our brother entrusted us with a form of mission. We have to be kind to him and his family.”

The funeral of Nicolas’ brother is scheduled for this Saturday, March 26.
