A disaster occurred early this Sunday morning: for an as yet unknown reason, a car overturned Gilles at the carnival in Strépy-Bracquegnies, near La Louvière. This happened during pickup. The vehicle drove into a group of regarding 20 people.
According to the mayor Jacques Gobert, and witnesses on the spot there would be at least 5 dead, including a child, and many injured.
LThe municipal emergency plan has been triggered. It would be two young people who were fleeing the police and hit the group. It was a collection of the company “Les boute en train”, which was at that time in the rue des Canadiens near the Hall omnisports, and was heading towards the city center. The car came from behind. The pick-up victim of the accident was that of Alderman Toni Gava, who was slightly injured.
The Minister of the Interior contacted the mayor, in particular to find out whether the thesis of an attack might be ruled out.
