MAURICIE. A new Streptococcus A screening service will be offered at all local service points in the territory in the coming weeks.
Thus, children aged 3 and over and adults presenting symptoms related to type A streptococcus, such as fever and a severe sore throat, will be able to make an appointment for screening at our local service points.
The integration of this service is being done gradually according to local service points. As a result, the population who needs it can make an appointment at the available locations closest to their home by going to Clicsante.ca, or by calling 819 519-3070.
On site, a nurse will carry out the assessment and, depending on the user’s condition, a throat swab will be taken and analyzed on site within a few minutes.
If the screening result is positive, a prescription or referral will then be given to obtain the necessary antibiotics from a pharmacist.
Please note that people with an individual prescription for a throat culture or streptococcal screening must instead make an appointment at a sampling center.
