Pediatricians are seeing an increase in infections affecting children. Immune systems would have been weakened by health restrictions.

Strep throat, which mainly affects children, is making a comeback in Geneva. As reported by the “Geneva Grandstand“, the Geneva Society of Pediatrics (SGP) has observed since the beginning of November an increase in consultations related to this disease. The HUG also note an increase in severe streptococcal infections compared to the situation that prevailed before the Covid pandemic. In absolute terms, however, the figures remain modest: currently three children are hospitalized for this reason. The co-president of the SGP believes that the health restrictions applied to protect once morest the coronavirus have limited the circulation of the bacterium, inducing less stress on the immune systems, which have been less trained to defend themselves.
