The Minister of Health, Pr Adrien Mougougou, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Gabon, Dr Marie Reine Chirezi Fabry and the Ambassador of the Republic of Japan to Gabon, Shuji Noguchi, officially proceeded with the official commissioning of the first cold storage room for vaccines for the health regions of Ngounié and Nyanga, in Mouila (south).
This is a 30 m3 site, equipped with a 20 KVA generator to ensure a continuous source of energy. New facilities that significantly increase vaccine storage capacity and guarantee optimal conditions for their conservation. UNICEF appreciates and congratulates the Gabonese government’s commitment to facilitating access to vaccination for all.
“After the Libreville depot in the Nkembo hospital, this fully rehabilitated and equipped site is the result of more active cooperation each year between the Gabonese Republic and the Republic of Japan, whose funding was decisive in the commitment of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to the implementation of this project” said the Minister of Health.
“Vaccination saves lives by preventing the spread of preventable diseases and protecting the health of children from an early age”stressed Dr Marie Reine Chirezi Fabry, UNICEF Resident Representative in Gabon.
In the name of frank bilateral relations between Japan and Gabon, the Japanese government, through its Ambassador, undertakes to continue to support Gabon in its economic and socio-health development.
