In the first half of this year, the number of illegal distribution of Hallyu content in China has already exceeded 20,000.

Accordingly, the government plans to drastically strengthen the surveillance system for copyright infringement in China and other countries.

This is reporter Lee Gyo-jun’s report.

Last year’s ENA drama ‘Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo’, which was very popular at home and abroad.

It was caught illegally distributing videos on about 20 sites in China.

There are over 1,800 illegal URLs that the government has forced Chinese authorities to delete.

Cases of copyright infringement like this have hardly decreased this year.

The government’s response to copyright infringement in China has already exceeded 20,000 as of the end of last month, an increase of about 17% compared to the same period last year.

Furthermore, copyright damage is spreading to the art world beyond dramas, entertainment, and webtoons.

In the case of unauthorized copying of Hwang Seon-tae’s works, we are concerned not only about the damage to the artist but also to the gallery that has supported the artist.

The government and the Korea Protection Agency plan to request deletion of copyright infringement companies through the China Protection Center and strengthen local monitoring and response capabilities.

Within this year, we plan to operate a copyright infringement information collection system for each language to significantly speed up our response.

Starting next month, we will increase the number of countries to be monitored from the current four (China, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines) to six by adding Malaysia and Indonesia.

In addition, we plan to actively promote our customized overseas copyright voucher support project, which supports copyright legal consulting and litigation, to groups in each field, including the art world.
