Strengthening Collaboration in Agriculture: OCP Africa and Akwa Ibom State Meeting

Strengthening collaboration in the field of agriculture was at the heart of discussions recently between Akwa Ibom State, in southeastern Nigeria, OCP Africa, a subsidiary of the OCP Group, world leader in production and of phosphate exports, and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).

The strategic meeting, which was held at the request of the Akwa Ibom State government between the latter, the OCP Africa Nigeria team and NSIA, aimed to discuss the progress of ongoing industrial projects and to strengthen collaboration in the field of agriculture.

The meeting, which was attended by senior government officials and representatives of both companies, was highly productive.

On this occasion, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, expressed his sincere thanks to OCP Africa for the various actions previously carried out in the region, noting that previous projects and initiatives have contributed significantly to development. economic and social of the State.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has also expressed its willingness to further strengthen this fruitful collaboration.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged information on the progress of the ongoing industrial project in Akwa Ibom State, adding that significant progress has been made.

All parties are committed to continuing to work together to ensure the successful completion of this major project.

At the same time, particular attention was paid to the development of the agricultural sector, with emphasis on the coconut oil value chain.

The parties discussed the measures necessary to establish a complete value chain, from production and processing to marketing.

Initiatives such as training local farmers, access to quality agricultural inputs and technical capacity building have been identified as key elements to ensure the success of this initiative.

Participants also expressed their willingness to further strengthen their collaboration in the future, emphasizing the importance of developing strong strategic partnerships to stimulate sustainable economic growth and create employment opportunities in the region.

The parties agreed to explore other potential areas of cooperation, such as research and development, agricultural infrastructure and promotion of agricultural entrepreneurship, to maximize mutual benefits.
