Even though 75% of companies have made significant progress in modernizing their infrastructure over the past year and 78% have increased their security budget, only 2% of industry experts are confident in their security strategies, according to a new report.
The study, carried out by critical infrastructure protection specialist OPSWAT, also reveals that most companies have adopted public cloud hosting for their web applications, and that 97% of them are already using containerization or planning to to implement it.
Among other findings, 62% of organizations use five or fewer anti-virus engines to detect malicious file downloads, representing a potential vulnerability, as deploying more engines can significantly strengthen anti-virus defense. an organization once morest advanced malware.
Larger organizations are more likely to use Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR), likely due to the larger volume of files they process, which makes them more vulnerable to cyberattacks. However, small and medium-sized businesses can also benefit greatly from adopting CDR as a proactive measure once morest evolving cyber threats.
98% of organizations would benefit from additional preventative approaches, such as periodically scanning all file repositories in their web applications for malware, detecting vulnerabilities in running VM containers, and preventing data exfiltration by sanitizing or blocking sensitive data.
“Regardless of size or industry, organizations need to recognize that infrastructure upgrades alone are not enough to ensure robust security,” said Yiyi Miao, product manager at OPSWAT. “It is imperative to establish a proactive defense strategy that goes beyond traditional measures. By adopting and combining advanced threat prevention technologies such as multi-AV scanning, CDR, DLP and dynamic threat analysis, organizations can effectively establish multiple lines of defense once morest emerging known and unknown threats and protect their critical infrastructure.”
