On Monday, Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy posted a picture of herself with actor and dancer Adam Shankman ahead of a gala honoring British choreographer Matthew Bourne.
In the picture, McCarthy is seen in a pastel spring green dress with a matching blazer. Barbra Streisand has commented on the photo, asking Melissa McCarthy if she takes the diabetes medication, and the weight loss drug, Ozempic.
“Say hello to him from me, have you taken Ozempic” writes the 82-year-old singer.
The comment did not go unnoticed by McCarthy’s fans. On the X platform, it has been noticed by several users.
“Can someone teach Barbra Steisand how to send dm” writes in.
Streisand’s comment was later deleted and the singer herself posted an apology on Instagram where she explains that she only wanted to pay Melissa McCarthy “a compliment”.
“She looked amazing. I wanted to give her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!”, she writes to her 1.6 million followers.
An explanation that has also received criticism in social media. “Absolutely, I think everyone would have been very flattered if they were asked if they had taken a slimming product,” writes a user on X.
Melissa McCarthy has not responded to Streisand’s comment.
