The repair of the streets of the capital is urgent. Work has started in Ankadimbahoaka and Ambodin’Isotry. They will extend on several axes.
Soon the end of the nightmare for motorists in the city of Antananarivo? All the black spots of the capital will be rehabilitated, according to a source with the Ministry of Public Works, yesterday. Seventeen axes would be in the rehabilitation schedule of this department. Maintenance work has started on National Road (RN) 63, between Ankadimbahoaka and Ankadievo roundregardings, on RN7 and on Tokyo Boulevard, measuring 2.6 km, of the road connecting the round -point Andranomanalina towards Jovena 67 Ha, Ambodin’Isotry towards the BMH Isotry, and Ambodin’Isotry towards Jovena 67 Ha, measuring 1.757 km. This work, scheduled to end this week, will be linked with the maintenance of the road linking Total Ampefiloha-Tsaralalàna-Ambatomena-Analakely, with a length of 1.69 km. The schedule for the repair of the other priority axes of the capital has not yet been released. But our source says that the rehabilitation of all deteriorated streets is already on the agenda. Everything would be finished by July. The announcement of this repair work is a godsend for motorists. Most of the capital’s streets are in an advanced state of deterioration and have become almost impassable. Spending by motorists and vehicle owners has risen sharply.
Big works
Some are forced to change tires almost every month. Others have to repair the shock absorbers, the bodywork, the oil pan, frequently. Not to mention the increase in fuel costs, caused by traffic jams. According to the instructions of the Head of State, the Ministry of Public Works will be responsible for the rehabilitation of major repairs, while the urban municipality of Antananarivo (CUA) will ensure the point-in-time. The Magic Construction company, which is entrusted with the work on these first three axes, is responsible for scarifying the pavements, implementing the asphalt layer, localized repair of the asphalt coating, paving or paver resurfacing, cleaning, laying of lightly reinforced concrete pavement. The Department of Public Works ensures the quality of the work done. The National Laboratory for Public Works and Building (LNTPB) carries out permanent geotechnical monitoring on construction sites. The other challenge is to make these infrastructures more sustainable. Our roads never lasted long. A few months following the end of the work, potholes are reforming. Moisture is the main enemy of tars. While each rainy season, water stagnates on the roads, faced with the deterioration of the sewerage networks, often blocked by waste or constructions. Everyone has their share of responsibility for preserving the roads of the capital.
