During The Game Awards 2023, Sega took everyone by surprise by announcing new games from some of its most classic franchises, including Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Crazy Taxi and Streets of Rage.
Although the announcement was not accompanied by many details regarding the projects, a presentation the developer held last week for its shareholders ended up bringing some important news regarding them, starting with the next Streets of Rage.

Officially named Streets of Rage Revolution, the new game promises to revolutionize the beloved side-scrolling beat ’em up action franchise through a 3D game.
Marking the return of Axel Stone as the protagonist, the game was described as follows to shareholders:
Take control of one of the ex-cops and make the city a place where people no longer need to walk the “Streets of Rage.”
Along with the information, the developer also shared concept art that shows the protagonist facing the night sky of what appears to be Wood Oak City.
In the same image, we can see a small cutout in the bottom right corner that appears to show a gameplay preview, but due to the low resolution, it is difficult to see the details:
We still don’t know if the new game will take advantage of elements from Streets of Rage 4 or if it will be a complete revamp, but Sega has certainly already given us a great preview of what’s to come.
So, what did you think of this new direction in the franchise?
