Street Fighter 6 has finally revealed itself in new images during this new State of Play. Surprise functions are waiting for you.
Street Fighter 6 made a surprise entrance during the last State of Play this Friday, June 3 with an impressive CGI trailer. The opportunity to find the charismatic Ryu, Chun-Li and Luke, the last DLC character of Street Fighter 5. The long-awaited last part of the saga developed on Capcom’s RE Engine expandsa major novelty: an open world. It would indeed seem that the game will offer a complete story mode, like Mortal Kombat 11 and will propose to progress in an open area visibly inspired by large American cities and called Metro City. This should serve as a hub between two fights. The game has two new modes in addition to the modes present in previous titles: World Tour, a kind of “immersive single-player story experience” as well as an online Battle Hub.
Alongside the classic commands, also rely on so-called “modern” controls that allow simplified actions. In terms of pure combat mechanics, the game is enriched with the Drive System, a gauge which is used to execute five distinct techniques.
Street Fighter enters a new era with a system that makes room for creativity, a strong artistic direction and new modes that will refresh the fighting game scene like never before – Capcom France.
A new fighter
A timely return since Street Fighter, a historic video game license, is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Between what had been shown and the expectations of the players, a lot of speculation was scattered on the net regarding the new episode. The last teaser highlighted Ryu but also Luke, a lesser known but equally important character. Capcom had also warned us: Its destiny already looks very much linked to the future of the license. A new character also joins the adventure: Jamiewho will bring his own style of play thanks to his unpredictable moves that include “breakdancing and drinking a glass of ki-unleashing.“
A brand new feature!
On the sidelines of the conference, Capcom also took the opportunity to broadcast a video presentation of the real-time commentary function. “We’ve teamed up with commentators from the fighting game community and other personalities to bring your matches to life with their own voices“. An idea that should probably bring a lot of dynamism to the clashes. Players will be able to choose between several personalities to animate the matches and offer gameplay explanations. Subtitles in 13 different languages will be accessible.
Street Fighter 6 will be released in 2023.
